Morning Glory Treatment Center for Children

In 1987, Norma founded MGTCC because after working in both child protective services and another residential agency she wanted to found her own truly therapeutic group home where children could receive treatment in a safe environment. For 10 years, Norma and MGTCC house parents trained by her provided innovative play therapy treatment and parenting for 40 children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, or traumatized by neglect and abuse.

In 1997, with declining state care subsidies and increasing licensing regulations, MGTCC reluctantly ended its residential treatment program. Today, MGTCC concentrates on several services:

• Outpatient play therapy for children and their parents using a sliding fee scale
• Assessments, consultation, and referrals
• Development of new play therapy and parenting materials
• Supervision of professionals seeking certification in play therapy
• Presentations at US and international professional conferences, seminars, and workshops
